When Jeni was a child, she would draw comics and write stories to entertain herself and her classmates. In high school, Jeni fell in love with the magic of science and worked as a research assistant after graduating from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree. It wasn’t until Jeni became a mom that she started drawing comics again, and this time, about the funny things her son EJ Rascal said or did. Jeni obtained a Fine Art certificate from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in 2018. Since then, she has been selected for a number of public art projects in British Columbia. In 2021, Jeni was selected as a BC Culture Days Ambassador. She also received a grant to introduce the immune system through arts to elementary school students. As a mom and a teacher of community arts programs, Jeni sees how brilliant and creative kids are. She wrote and illustrated a picture book to encourage children to explore their brilliance and creativity. That book is Emet’s Box and it is being published by The Little Press in 2022.
